3VR LAUNCHES LINE OF “SMART” CAMERAS

3VR SmartCams™ Combines Video Intelligence and Facial Analysis in High Performance Megapixel Camera

San Francisco, CA — March 31, 2008 –3VR Security, Inc. today announced the availability of the 3VR SmartCam™, a new line of megapixel cameras for use with the 3VR SmartRecorder™ and SmartSearch™ NVRs. Available in both indoor and rugged, day and night models, the SmartCam has integrated intelligence for optimal use of bandwidth, storage, and resources.

3VR SmartCam uses less storage, network and computational requirements than comparable megapixel cameras. Because the SmartCam only sends critical information, such as motion and faces to the 3VR system for analysis, it minimizes CPU requirements by as much as 90% and enables efficient integration with 3VR’s award-winning intelligent video management systems.

“We’ve put some of our award-winning analytics on the camera,” said Bob Vallone, VP of Engineering for 3VR. “As a result, we reduce drag on network and CPU resources on the recorder; that allows us to connect more megapixel cameras, up to 16, to a single 3VR system.”

Additionally, 3VR has focused tremendous effort on simplifying the setup and configuration process. Traditionally, the installation and tuning of megapixel cameras is a difficult and time consuming process, but “with SmartCams we give you as close to plug-and play experience as has ever been achieved in the industry,” said Vallone. “This makes it more tenable for customers and integrators to take advantage of the tremendous potential of megapixel video.”

The SmartCam also comes with Digital pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) capabilities that further enhance the operators’ ability to take advantage of the high resolution images offered by megapixel cameras. With these superior PTZ controls, operators can quickly view specific regions and see important details of scenes or to configure a smaller region of the screen to record and compress dramatically reduce storage use.

The SmartCam is available through Certified 3VR Channel Partners in normal and low-light, indoor and rugged models. They are suitable for a variety of deployments including retail stores, banks, corporate and government offices, schools, airports, and other facilities.
